Nicolas Mordvinoff

Nicolas Mordvinoff (1911-1973) – художник, скульптор, иллюстратор. Родился в России, в Санкт-Петербурге, вырос в Париже (куда попал после революции в 1918 году), закончил Парижский университет. Стал публиковать свои иллюстрации и рисунки во французских изданиях. В 1934 году отправился в Океанию. На Таити познакомился с писателем William Stone, который предложил ему проиллюстрировать свою книгу для детей. Mordvinoff проиллюстрировал как её, так и несколько следующих у писателя. В 1946 году Nicolas Mordvinoff эмигрировал в США, жил в Нью-Йорке, проиллюстрировал 16 детских книг под псевдонимом “Will and Nicolas” в соавторстве с William Lipkind (Mordvinoff рисовал, Lipkind писал тексты и рисовал тоже). Первая их книга, The Two Reds (1950), получила отличие Кальдекотта, а вторая, Finders Keepers (1951), выиграла медаль Кальдекотта.
