This is the gold mosaic dome and granite pillars supporting it as viewed at the base of the Garfield statue. Winged figures depicting North, South, East, and West - the sorrow in all quarters of the nation - are seen above the arches under the domed ceiling. A mourning procession is depicted below on the sides of the chamber in the stone mosaic panels. Gold leaf and highly polished red granite are in great abundance in the Memorial Hall décor 1962
