The Old Guard These were the three heroes I loved as a kid (I really wanted to be The Rocketeer). I sincerely miss the old heroes and pulp comics, there was a majesty to the characters that gave them a regal aura. They held themselves like princes of justice, but with the honest sincerity of the common man. There could be dark and gritty action, daring do, and some good old fashion Nazi beatings to the stories. I wholeheartedly wish for a resurgence in this genre. Alex Ross is the artist responsible for these covers Of course, The Rocketeer is a modern creation, but definitely inspired by the pulp heroes
